When TJ & Lindsay Papp launched for the city of Kelowna in British Columbia's beautiful Okanagan Valley, we knew the initiative would be received with open arms. The amazing video coverage, including a cameo by Kelowna's Mayor, and features like this awesome Q&A with Lindsay, as well as huge merchant support have proven this to be true.

The potential of the Okanagan region is obvious; the vast picture-perfect landscapes, friendly vibes, wineries, abundant fresh produce, amazing weather, and of course, the local businesses make the area one of the nicest on Earth.

Today, we are thrilled to announce the launch of for Kelowna's northern neighbour, Vernon BC, by new City Manager, Brett Kryskow.

Brett is an experienced marketer and a supporter of local businesses in Vernon. Brett has spent many years marketing new homes and communities, and is now turning his attention to supporting the small businesses that call Vernon home. will give locally-owned businesses in Vernon the opportunity to compete with online retailers, while helping strengthen the resolve of local people to shop locally.

As a former Vanier Cup-winning football player, Brett's love of sports and giving back to the community led him to coach several youth football teams. Brett believes in coaching solid football fundamentals, but also believes in coaching the person -- giving the athlete the necessary skills to be successful on the field and the tools to be successful in the game of life. He is looking forward to connecting with the local sports community and using his new business to support local sports teams.

A quick 45 minute drive from Kelowna, Greater Vernon, B.C. is home to about 60,000 West Coast revellers of all ages - from retirees to ski bums and beyond. As the site was one of Canada's original fur trading camps in the West, entrepreneurship and local ties are part of the fabric of this Okanagan beauty -- providing the perfect recipe for a Shop Local Movement expansion in the West.

Vernon's new shop local search engine,, will allow businesses to create online catalogs of their offerings, post coupons, events, deals, promotions, social media and more to make it as easy as possible for local people to support their local retailers and service providers.

"I believe shopping locally is important, because it connects the local small business community in a way that strengthens the local economy, keeping more money within the community which results in higher job security and that leads to the increased ability to support merchants and the community," said City Manager Brett Kryskow. "To shop locally means to support the local businesses that have a true, long-term interest in your community."

"The excitement built by is spreading through the Okanagan Valley, which makes this the perfect time to introduce to the community," said Colin Pape, founder. "Brett is a welcome addition to the family. With his background in football, we know that he intimately understands how to play on a team to ensure everyone wins, and we're excited to have someone with his background as the leader of the Shop Local Movement in Vernon."
